FAQ

Here are the answers to some of the questions I am most frequently asked. For anything not covered here, please contact me directly using the form on the right-hand side.

What makes you so special?

The market for wedding musicians is a crowded one, and it’s entirely unregulated. Search for “wedding violinist” and you’ll find hundreds of musicians, but you’ll have no idea of their quality however polished their demos sound. Their demos might sound polished, but you have no idea of the quality of the performance you’re going to get. Other musicians play the same, tired old music every time (they might just allow you a single request, if you’re lucky).

If you book me, you can be secure in the knowledge that I am a highly experienced and professional musician. I passed Grade 8 violin with distinction at age 15, and have played Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on some of Europe’s most respected concert stages. And before you book me you can audition me. You can hear me play live, either in person or using Skype. You can pick every song, every piece, every note (if you prefer), and I’ll give your wedding the same musical attention to detail I would give my own.

Where are you based and which areas of the country do you cover?

My home is in Buckinghamshire, close to the M40, M4, M1 and M25. From this central location, I travel across South England and Wales. Recent performances have been in Cardiff, Southampton, Colchester and Birmingham. A violinist can travel quickly and easily!

Do you perform with a pianist?

I can play solo violin for you or perform with a pianist – I have a pianist I regularly perform with. To hear us in action together, please go to celebratewithmusic.co.uk.

How much do you charge?

I prepare individual quotes so they can be as low as possible. My prices are fully inclusive and take in travel, music and instrument hire and preparation fees, insurance, and a full consultation with the venue. Please get in touch for a formal quotation.

How do I go about booking? Do you require a deposit?

If you would like to book me, a deposit of 50% of the total fee is paid at the time of booking. The remaining 50% is due a month before your date, at the same time as you finalise your music choices. You can pay sooner than that if you wish, of course. Full terms are included in the booking form I send you – so everyone knows where they stand. A receipt is provided on request.

Can you move from one room to another?

Yes, this is no problem. A violinist can move on the spur of the moment, with no need to stop playing.

Can you play with other musicians?

I’m happy to play with other performers, amateur or professional. If a rehearsal is required, this can often be arranged a few hours before the performance.

Can you learn this song for my wedding..?

Yes. You can select every song or genre I play, if you wish.

Do you have public liability insurance (PLI) and is your equipment certified by Portable Appliance Testing (PAT test)?

Yes, and I’m happy to email proof of either of these to venues requiring them.

Do you play any other instruments?

I’m also a highly experienced pianist. For more details please go to pianistwedding.co.uk.
I can be hired to play both violin and piano. Click celebratewithmusic.co.uk for some ideas.
