In the Kent countryside, just outside Canterbury, Winters Barn was the perfect venue for Sophie and Mark’s folk-themed wedding. Wedding violinist Simon Jordan played here and was struck by the professionalism of the service, the glorious gardens and the well organised interior, which can seat 200. Sophie and Mark chose this mix of music for their day:
Church wedding:
Bach- Jesus Joy ( as guests take their seats )
Bach- Cello Sute No 1, Prelude ( guests taking their seats )
Elgar- salut d’ Amour loves greetings ( guests taking their seats )
ET theme tune classical piece? – ( guests taking their seats )
Medidtation by Thais- Entrance of the bride
Bach- Sheep may safely graze ( ceremony- register signing )
Beethoven- Ode to joy ( register signing )
Nimrod from Enigma Variations — Elgar ( register signing )
Mendelssohn’s Wedding March- exit playing with organist
Winters Barn Reception:
At the wedding breakfast we did have lots of ideas, but thought it would be better
to stay with a folk theme. We have two tunes we would like:
Lough Erin and Ashokan Farewell by Ungar. We like the Irish folk/ American folk,
something which is soft and can blend into the atmosphere. The two examples I have
given you would be the kind of sound we would be after. We also like the last of the
mohicans soundtrack from the film. The ending track is folky and really nice.
